Step 1: Check If Bluetooth Is Actually Installed
- Press
Windows + R, typedevmgmt.msc, and press Enter – this opens Device Manager. - Look for Bluetooth in the list.
- If it’s there, expand it and see if anything has a yellow warning icon.
- If it’s missing, it could mean the driver isn’t installed or Bluetooth is disabled in BIOS.
Step 2: Check in Network Adapters
Still in Device Manager:
- Scroll down to Network adapters.
- Look for any Bluetooth-related devices (e.g., Intel Wireless Bluetooth).
If it’s not there either, read on.
Step 3: Enable Bluetooth in BIOS
Sometimes, Bluetooth is disabled at the hardware level.
- Reboot your laptop and tap
EscorF10(depends on your model) to enter BIOS/Setup. - Look for something like Built-in Device Options.
- Make sure Bluetooth Device is enabled.
- Save and exit.
Step 4: Install Missing Drivers
- Go to HP’s official driver site.
- Search for HP EliteBook 840 G3.
- Download and install the latest Bluetooth driver (usually under Driver-Network).
- Reboot after installation.
Step 5: Check Services
- Press
Windows + R, typeservices.msc, press Enter. - Look for Bluetooth Support Service.
- If it’s not running, right-click > Start.
- Set it to Automatic by double-clicking it.
Optional: Use HP Support Assistant
HP has a built-in app that can help install missing drivers:
- Search for HP Support Assistant in Start menu.
- Open it, check for updates, and install anything related to Bluetooth.
